I had a recipe for this Wheat Crust Pizza on here one time…and then it disappeared when I migrated the blog… So here we go again!
This should make a good example on how to use stockpiled items to make a very tasty and thrifty dinner! Your cost may vary…There are many items that i have picked up for FREE with different sales and some really cheap with a Marsh Triples Sale.
Ingredients:
1 C. Water …………………………………………….FREE 1 1/2 C. Flour…………………………………………..$.03 1 1/2 C. Wheat Flour…………………………………..$.13 2 Tbsp Olive Oil……………………………………….FREE 1 tsp. Salt……………………………………………….$.01 2 tsp. Yeast…………………………………………….$.15 1 – 1 1/2 C. Pasta Sauce (or Pizza Sauce)………..FREE 8 oz. Mozzarella Cheese……………………………$1.17 8 oz Sausage………………………………………….$.25 Dash of Garlic Powder………………………………$.02 Dash of Oregano…………………………………….$.04Total Cost = $1.80 (can’t beat that price!)
Directions:
- If you’ve got a Bread Machine, just throw the Water, Flours, Olive Oil, Salt and Yeast in to the Machine and set for “Dough”. Bread Machine are Flippin’ Magical!
- If you do not have a bread Machine, Dissolve Yeast and salt in Warm Water and let sit for 10 minutes. Then add in Flour, saving about a 1/2 cup to sprinkle on counter. Knead on top of floured surface. Then place dough in lightly oiled bowl and cover for 1 hour.
- Now your dough should be ready. Roll out into desired shape and thickness.
- Add sauce on top of rolled dough. Sprinkle seasonings on top of the sauce.
- Add cheese and sausage (or whatever toppings you’d like)
- Bake at 400 for 18-20 minutes.
I completely meant to have a picture of the finished product…but I went to work out and left the hubs in charge, and I forgot to tell him to take a pic.
