How to CVS

Check out the CVS Coupon Policy!

CVS is a great place to score a couple freebies along with some great deals each week. It is not a great store to really stock up on things, as there is limited stock and limits on sale items. Here are the things you will need to know to score big at CVS:

CVS Extra Care Card

To get the advertised sale prices you will need to sign up for an extra care card. Its easy and will just take a couple minutes, see the front of store cashier. Once you have your card, take it over to the magic coupon machine and scan it. It will spit out CVS store coupons, which you will be able to stack with manufacturer’s coupons. Scan your card until you get the message that no more coupons are available until tomorrow. You are able to scan your card everyday, if you really want, but just remember to scan it every time you make a trip to CVS.

Extra Care Bucks

CVS has tons of Extra Care Buck (ECB) deals every week. When you buy the ECB sale item you will pay the sale price and then receive a $ECB back. The ECB will print at the end of your receipt. You will just tear it off the bottom and use it for your next purchase. You can use it right away for a separate transaction or on your next trip. You may also use coupons with these ECB deals to lower your Out Of Pocket (OOP). There are always limits set for the ECB deals. If the limit is 2, the ECB will only print for the purchase of 2 of this item. You may purchase more but there will be no ECB that will print.

Example:

Oral B Pulsar Power Toothbrush  $6.00 (limit 2)
-$3.00 coupon
= $3.00 OOP
then receive $3.00 ECB

THEN Purchase

Oral B Pulsar Power Toothbrush  $6.00
-$3.00 coupon
-$3.00 ECB (from last transaction)
= $0 OOP
then receive another $3.00 ECB

The ECB’s received are good for about a month after they are printed and may be used on almost anything in the store like cash.  The best way to use them is to buy other sale items that will produce more ECB’s so that you will have very little to no OOP each week. But it is also OK to blow your ECB’s on Formula and Diapers (or whatever else) and just start over the next week.

Green Bag Tag

You can purchase a Green Bag Tag at the front register for 99 cents. Then attach the tag to a reusable bag or your key chain, and have it scanned each time you make a purchase to be bagged in your own reusable bag. After the tag is scanned 4 times an ECB for $1 will print. This tag easily pays for itself. You do not have to buy the reusable bag at CVS, just use any that you already own.
